Kara*, 16, never met her father. She and her two siblings were brought up alone by their mother who worked as a freelance massage therapist and part-time street sweeper.
Early in 2019, the slum area where Kara and her family lived caught fire. Kara was homeless so she decided to live with her friends. One of her friends introduced her to a woman who promised to give her a job. Kara, along with other young women, started work in a spa that offers “extra services”.
Kara was rescued in an entrapment operation and was referred to a temporary shelter. After several months, she was then referred to the Blessed Project where she now learns employable life skills such as sewing and baking, while on her way to healing and recovery.
