Radha’s Journey of Learning

Radha, 16 years old, is one of 5 children in her family. Unfortunately, all of them did not have the opportunity to attend school. The family does not own any land, and their house is built on someone else’s property.

Radha’s mother works as a wage laborer on other’s farms, while Radha is responsible for caring for her siblings when her mom is away. Given their challenging financial situation,  Radha finds herself in a world where only the privileged can learn and attend school. This world opened up to her when she met Ms. Sunita Yadav, one of our dedicated community educators in our Captivating Village Project, who helped her pursue her education.

After being interviewed and selected as one of the beneficiaries of the program, Radha was enrolled in the Alternative Learning Program (ALP) Center.  The ALP is a 9-month intensive program that caters to girls who have a big gap in their education and helps get them back up to speed before transitioning to regular schooling. The ALP Center is part of the Captivating Village Program, formed by Captivating International with our in-country implementing partner Aasaman Nepal.

In this nurturing environment, Radha’s journey of learning begins. With each passing day, she discovers newfound abilities as she learns to write her name and develops her communication skills. Engaging games and melodious educational songs become part of her educational journey.

The joy radiating from Radha upon her enrollment in the learning center is immeasurable. Together, she and her family express gratitude to the entire project team for this precious opportunity to learn, grow, and create a brighter future.
