Passing on Good Health Practices

235 villagers including 96 women came out to the My Health, My Family, Our Safety project in their village. The team of doctors and nurses spent time with the villagers and explained good health practices and provided medical checks for those who needed them. Many women in this community have never been to see a doctor mostly due to the remoteness of the region and the long and tiring trip it would take to get to a medical center.

Lamazhuoma, 33 years old, has never been to school. She is now married, and takes care of her two young children and sick mother-in-law, while her husband works at construction sites. Her husband had never been to school either so he only has limited employment opportunities, while they all have to depend on his meager income. She was very grateful for the health training and consultation. The programs helped her understand basic health care and the importance of a healthy lifestyle. She is now teaching her children to develop good habits to protect them from disease.

Lamazhuoma and the other women who joined the project, are now advocates of improved health in their communities. Thank you to Nicky Z and ASBV Charity for funding the My Health, My Family, Our Safety project in Lamazhuoma’s village.
