After conducting the Online Safety Campaign (OSC) with the students in a local school, our on-the-ground partner in the Philippines, Honor 1000 Movement, invited the parents to attend the Human Trafficking Awareness Campaign (HTAC) to inform and encourage them to protect their children against human trafficking.
Aside from cybersex crime, another main issue in provinces of the Philippines is the lure of working in the cities, usually in Manila. Parents need to be more vigilant against perpetrators who offer too good to be true jobs especially when it entails transporting them or their children to another location.
After the HTAC sessions, some parents express their desire to work with Honor staff in raising awareness against human trafficking. They are volunteer Parent Advocates. As the team expands their reach in farther provinces, the Parent Advocates serve as significant help in actively bringing awareness about the dangers of human trafficking and cybersex crime to communities.
