Securing Her Kids’ Future

One of our projects for the My First Job program in China is the Embroidery Skills Training. Behind the faces of each of the students is an encouraging story of hope and perseverance. One of them is Daretao and this is her story:

Daretzo is a young mother. She has two young children who need to be looked after. Learning embroidery while taking care of her children at home was a perfect solution for her.

This year, she was fortunate to be able to participate in this training. Through the training, she learned embroidery crafts and skills. She wants to use her embroidery skills to supplement her living expenses. She is a smart and studious woman, not afraid of hard work. After two months of training, she mastered all the embroidery skills, painting flowers, cutting flowers, matching colors, and other basic skills. She also can embroid a variety of Tibetan wears independently. She opened a clothing store in the county, selling fashion clothing and some embroidered Tibetan wears.

Her embroidered works are good and the color matching is visually attractive, so she can sell at a good price, and the customers are very satisfied. She earns about 2000-2500 RMB [US$270-$340] per month.

Her hard work is finally rewarded, and her face showed a smile that she has never had before. She is really happy that she could go further on the road of embroidery for her and her kids’ future.

Our thanks to ZURU for underwriting our My First Job Program, as well as key financial support from GPA Global, CAF America, SWIS, and all who purchased a MFJ plush toy at our Annual Shenzhen Charity Auction.
