Puja, 32, is one of our My Business My Freedom (MBMF) microfinance program members in Nepal. Puja believes that everyone has their own struggles. For some, struggling means not having brand-new shoes, while for others, it means not being able to meet the needs of their family. In the same way, her family struggled financially when two daughters were born, and she had to look after them.
Eventually, her expenses increased, and they were unable to meet their basic needs. The income from her husband was not enough to support the growing family, so she sought to earn an income on her own. Due to a lack of employment opportunities, she came up with the idea to open her own small grocery store. However, opening a shop proved challenging since she did not have enough money to stock up her shop.
The MBMF microfinance program was the best program she could find and provided the right loan amount. Since then, she has taken three loans, and she earns around Rs 3000 to 4000 (US$ 22-30) per day by selling goods.
The MBMF microfinance program has truly made a difference in her family’s life, and Puja values the team’s support tremendously.
