Two Women, Shared Challenges, Empowered by the Chicken Farming Program

Through the Chicken Farming Program, resilient women like Qiesha and Biji are creating brighter futures for their families. Their gratitude inspires us!

Li Zhenhuan was a typical rural woman, living a simple life, working hard, rarely speaking and rarely attending community activities. But that was the old Li. We’d like to introduce the new Li.
Li’s pig raising business
Li began her new life one step at a time over 2 years ago and is now part of a local women’s self help group, attends local village meetings and is a successful small business woman. Li has grown her pig raising business through ardent learning and seizing every opportunity to attend training sessions and local activities. Li has a new found confidence and is now helping other women in her village to attend pubic meetings and encouraging all women to have a voice. “This project has changed my life. I love my new life of confidence“, says Li with her beaming smile.

Since July 2016, Captivating’s leftover funds from the original Kaili Village development project have been helping families in Yunnan Province address their poverty. In partnership with Heifer China, 50 impoverished families became the first beneficiaries of the Haihui project, receiving training and program support from Heifer and funding from Captivating to start their progressive steps towards a poverty free future. These 50 families will eventually repay their small business loans with funds used to support a further 50 families, then another 50 families two years thereafter.
