Life is hard, but don’t lose your hope!

Wu ZhimeiWu Zhimei is a 5th Grade student of Daxi Elementary school and she lives with her Dad and Grandpa. Every day after school Zhimei helps the family with horse feeding, cooking, house cleaning, and whatever she can do to alleviate some of the burden for the family. Her family received funds from Captivating’s Village Development project (in partnership with Heifer China), and with it bought two pigs and two cows.  Wu Zhimei has assumed the obligation of chopping vegetables and feeding these animals. We asked her, ‘the family is now having more animals and you have to chop more vegetables, do you feel tired?’ She smiled and said to us, ‘indeed, but if the family can make more money, I would happy to help with more work, and just few days ago we sold a fat pig!’  Watching the little girl’s lovely smile, we all know that it’s not only because of a two hundred kilo pig – her smile told us that she has hope in her heart.  Bringing more hope to more people – this is exactly what this project is all about.
