How to build a greenhouse

During the past year, 171 greenhouses were built throughout Western China. This is no easy task and so we thought we’d share with you the steps to building a greenhouse.

  1. An excavator is used to clear, level and prepare the building site.

2. The dirt wall is prepared and braced with supports, ready to lay the bricks.

3. The bricks are laid as the support wall and the two ends.

4. The frames are assembled and plastic sheeting is secured.

5. Training is carried out on how to properly maintain the greenhouse and how to best grow vegetables.

6. Rotations of crops are planted throughout the year, resulting in plentiful, year-round harvest for the family.

Below are some of the women and their children, most are single mothers (our primary focus of this program moving forward), who are now proud owners of a greenhouse. They understand how to grow vegetables that will help to provide proper nutrition for their children and provide ample crops that they can sell and earn extra money so their children will be able to remain stable in school. Thank you to GPA Global for matching the funds of everyone who has donated to this amazing project for 2017.
