When victims of online sexual abuse and exploitation are rescued, they are taken away from their vulnerable environments which often means being separated from their families. We help our trainees to cope with this sense of loss by conducting home visits.
Mia (name changed for privacy) entered the Blessed House in March. It was a difficult transition for her that she even tried hurting herself while in our shelter. With counseling sessions and a promised home visit, Mia started being hopeful again. In June, the promised home visit was fulfilled. She was able to spend time with her mom for a day under the supervision of her social worker. This renewed connection gave her the determination to heal as well as learn skills so she can have a better future with her family.
The social worker was with Mia during the entire visit to ensure her safety.
