We recently welcomed Elaine (name changed for privacy), our newest trainee, at the Blessed House. Elaine and her family lived on the streets. When she was as young as 9 years old, her mom would pimp her to customers along the street, and at 10 years old, Elaine started working in bars. She was finally rescued a year after and stayed under the care of Voice of the Free.
She was diagnosed with delayed intellectual disability and developmental neglect was reflected which affects her social functioning. Despite this, her social worker has seen a lot of growth and determination in Elaine. She wants to be financially stable so she can support her two younger siblings who are still under the care of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
We are welcoming Elaine in Blessed Project, where she can continue her healing, learn life skills and be given an opportunity for employment in Blessed Project’s sewing facility.
