A Bright Start for Sendor Kindergarten Students

Sendor Kindergarten, in Qinghai, China is a large kindergarten with more than 200 children and 11 teachers. This kindergarten didn’t have any play equipment for the children and very limited resources for both teachers and children. The teachers had been struggling to engage these young children in learning until recently, when a new library came to their kindergarten.

Sendor Kindergarten (9)Thanks to Shen Wai International School (SWIS), tables and chairs were purchased along with bookshelves filled with over 350 brightly coloured books. Sendor Kindergarten now has a beautiful reading room, bright color on the walls, and filled with many resources that the children are so eager to use. The teachers are so excited to see the children wanting to learn new things. They want to read and share the stories they have discovered. Many of the children like to stay at the library, filled with curiosity and motivation to find out more.

This learning space at the kindergarten has made an incredible difference to the lives of these young children. Now that the seed of learning has been sown, teachers can’t wait see these children grow their knowledge and reach for the stars as they continue with their education. Thank you SWIS for making all this possible. This program was funded by students, teachers, parents and a school based reading marathon program – a fund-raising program that resulted in 3 library projects being implemented by Captivating. AWESOME WORK SWIS.  And well done to our implementing partner in Qinghai – SHAMTSE.
