Sharing Learnings & Laughter on First Day of Training

The Husky Energy Tailoring Skills Program for Women officially launched on March 18, 2024. Our team recruited thirty-one trainees after a face-to-face interview, which was in line with the program’s requirements. At the opening ceremony, 27 trainees showed up on time, while the remaining four were absent due to unforeseen circumstances. Two of them were hospitalized due to poor health, another was absent due to family issues, and they promised to join the program within five days. The trainer has promised to run a special extra class for these three to help them catch up with the class. Although the last trainee did not show up, we were able to replace her with a candidate from the waiting list.

It was heartwarming to witness all the trainees come together and participate in setting up the training center. They assembled the sewing machines, cleaned the area, and even helped place the blackboard. Before commencing their first class, we took an opening group photo, a moment of great joy and excitement for all involved.

During the class, the trainees shared laughter as they experienced the training for the first time. They were eager to learn together, and it was gratifying to see their enthusiasm as they began mastering how to use the ruler with the numbers. All the interviewees were recommended based on their unique circumstances, including poor family conditions, a lack of systematic education experience, a high motivation to learn, and no opportunity to generate a sustainable income source. We are honored to support these talented women on their journey toward a brighter future, and we look forward to seeing all that they will accomplish.
