My First Job Story: Zhongtso Signs a Business Contract

One of our projects for the My First Job program in China is the Embroidery Skills Training. Behind the faces of each of the students is an encouraging story of hope and perseverance. One of them is Zhongtso and this is her story:

There are four people in her family, including an elderly mother-in-law, a four or five years old son and the couple. Her family has no financial resource except a few land.

Because their mother-in-law is bedridden, the couple have to stay at home to take care of the elderly and children, so they have little opportunity to go out to work. Sometimes her husband occasionally found a part-time job, but only earned a few dollars, so their family’s financial life was very challenging.

This training is a rare opportunity and great significance for her, so she took her classes seriously and cherished class and after class. She studied hard during the two month training, and finally got enviable results. She found a new way to earn money without leaving home. She has now signed a contract with Dolma Yangzong Embroidery Co., Ltd.

After signing the contract, she can now sell her embroidered works to this company, and she can earn about 1500 RMB a month ($208 USD). If there is more free time, her earnings can reach between 2000 to 3000 RMB a month ($278 USD – $417 USD).

Our thanks to ZURU for underwriting our My First Job Program, as well as key financial support from GPA Global, CAF America, SWIS, and all who purchased a MFJ plush toy at our Annual Shenzhen Charity Auction.
