A Mother’s Painful Story

Tanvi (name changed for protection and privacy) got married without her parents’ consent. While her husband was abroad for work, she was raped by another man. Afraid of becoming an outcast, she decided not to tell anyone about it, even her family. After a couple of months, she suspected that she was pregnant. She went to the hospital and confirmed her suspicion. Eventually, she could no longer hide her pregnancy. Her family learned about the truth contacted our partner (3 Angels Nepal) to help file a complaint.

In coordination with the police, the man was brought into custody. The case was dealt with with high confidentiality to protect Tanvi, her family, and her future child. Unfortunately, her child did not survive the difficult pregnancy and died. Tanvi is back with her family as she recovers. We are keeping in contact with her while she has requested to be part of our tailoring skills training as soon as she feels more comfortable both physically and emotionally.
