3 Angels Nepal to be the First Organization to Reach Jogi Taal

We recently organized an awareness program in Jogi Taal, a village in Nepal where most residents belong to marginalized communities. It was a new, educational, and informative experience for them, and they expressed gratitude that our local implementing partner, 3 Angels Nepal, was the first organization to provide them with this kind of education.

They appreciated the time and effort our implementing team put together to address their current situations and social issues, which included child marriage, excessive gambling, instances of rape within families, sexual abuse, domestic violence, high levels of illiteracy, and widespread alcohol consumption.

40 Participants Eagerly Listening to the Session

A recent incident involving the rape of a fourteen-year-old girl had occurred, and justice had not been served; the perpetrator remained free. Limited economic opportunities, social exclusion, and deep-rooted cultural traditions severely restricted the villagers’ choices. The need for education and increased awareness in this village was evident.

A total of 40 participants took part in the awareness program, which had a significant impact. Through the awareness program, the villagers became aware of various forms of abuse, the risks of trafficking, and how gambling and social injustices contributed to their vulnerability to trafficking.

During a follow-up visit, it was observed that group gambling had significantly decreased, and there was potential for further improvement in the village. The issue was brought to the attention of the local government to work collaboratively to uplift Jogi Taal’s condition.

In hopes of further improving the villagers’ way of life, they extended another invitation to 3 Angels Nepal for another awareness program.
