A report from 3 Angels Nepal:
Nepal based Anti-Trafficking focused organization since 2004, 3AN, have been pro-actively implementing initiatives through Rescue, Prevention and Rehabilitation approach to combat Human Trafficking in Nepal.
3 AN is an implementing partner primarily of Asian Aid Australia, Captivating International Foundation (CIF), 3 Angels Newcastle, and Forever Friends Australia – organizations who all support the work of 3 AN in different regions of Nepal with Rescue Prevention and Rehabilitation of the victim of Human Trafficking services.
On 27th of November 2014, on the occasion of SAARC Summit final day, 3AN attempted to bring attention about the magnitude of the Human Trafficking issues within SAARC nations that is directly affecting Nepal the most. 3AN’s pleas of fighting against Human Trafficking within South Asian Countries was brought to the attention of all representatives during the Summit through the help and support of former Hon’ble minister Top Bahadur Rayamajhi a member in the summit. The issue of Human Trafficking in Nepal was included as part of the Agenda during the summit and all nations within SAARC expressed their support to combat Human Trafficking in the most effective way.
In the month September this year, 3AN conducted a week of Anti-Human Trafficking in all places of 3AN operations along the borders and in Kaski District. This program for a week of awareness was carried out intensively and proactively in coalition with other like minded organizations, and in strong coordination with the local police, women and children welfare offices, NGO federation and some primary beneficiaries were included to present their success stories during the campaign. The similar intensive interaction program was carried out later in the month of October by NGO federation to advocate with the government with a stronger voice representing all NGOs working with this issue.
Finally, 3AN’s advocacy with the government was further presented to the SAARC summit. 3 AN would like to sincerely thank Mr. Rayamajhi the former minister for taking the Agenda in the SAARC summit.
